Original Winnie the Pooh ‘Hundred Acre Wood’ Map up for Auction

The original map of Winnie the Pooh’s Hundred Acre Wood will be unveiled by Sotheby’s auction house today before it goes on sale later this year. The map, which is the original EH Shepard drawing hasn’t been seen for 50 years and will accompany various other illustrations in the sale.

The sale, one of the most exciting Southeby’s has seen for a while is likely to attract worldwide interest as the original Hundred Acre Wood map and four other illustrations go up for sale this July.

The map was originally published in the opening pages of the original Winnie the Pooh book from 1926 and was also seen in the 1966 Disney movie, but no one has seen the original drawing in more than 50 years. The map will accompany four other original illustrations, including Christopher Robin and Pooh saying their goodbyes, plus Eeyore, Pooh, Rabbit and a game of Pooh sticks and will be sold at the auction house this July. Combined estimates for the sale predict that the drawings will sell for between £310,000 and £400,000.

All the illustrations come from an unnamed private collector who has owned the pieces for the last five decades when they have not been available for public viewing, according to auction house Southeby’s.
