Trailer Released for Netflix’s Anne of Green Gables Adaption

It was announced last year that Netflix were to remake the Anne of Green Gables adaptation for its streaming platform and today we have both a release date and a first trailer for the series.

Netflix is becoming famed for its faithful adaptations, readers are currently throwing acclaim on the Series of Unfortunate Events adaption with Neil Patrick Harris, and a Netflix adaptation of Thirteen Reasons Why is also coming soon.

The streaming service released the news late last year that it was to remake the adaption in a mini-series. Based on the books rather than the original adaption Anne centres on spirited young orphan, Anne, played by Amybeth McNulty who mistakenly gets sent to live with an aging brother and sister duo at the Green Gables farm on Prince Edward Island. Fans of the books will know it’s an uplifting book as ever optimistic, Anne transforms the lives of everyone she meets.

The first trailer doesn’t reveal much in the way of the storyline, but Netflix says it will reflect many of the timeless themes of feminism, identity, bullying and prejudice that are explored in the book.

The release date for the mini-series is May 12th, so if you haven’t yet read the book and want to before the series is released, you still have some time to do so or read a review of Anne of Green Gables here.
