Outlander is a hugely popular book series in the historical fiction/historical romance genre. I don’t think there are many series that get mentioned in almost every reading list we put together, and Diana Gabaldon is prolific enough to satisfy her huge fan base too. The American author was born on 11th January, 1952 and is one of today’s most prolific writers.
The Outlander series is packed with suspense, history and lots of romance and so here are ten quotes from the series, guaranteed to make you swoon.

“And if your life is a suitable exchange for my honor, why is my honor not a suitable exchange for your life?”
“I kissed his cheek, damp and salty. I could feel his heart beating against my ribs, and wanted nothing more than to stay there forever, not moving, not making love, just breathing the same air.”

“Ye werena the first lass I kissed,” he said softly. “But I swear you’ll be the last.”
“I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have.”

“Overall, the library held a hushed exultation, as though the cherished volumes were all singing soundlessly within their covers.”
(Admin – I had to include at least one to make the bookworms swoon)
“For where all love is, the speaking is unnecessary”

“I wanted ye from the first I saw ye – but I loved ye when you wept in my arms and let me comfort you.”
“Don’t be afraid. There’s the two of us now.”

“It was a beautiful bright autumn day, with air like cider and a sky so blue you could drown in it.”
The Outlander series is at present eight books long and Diana Gabaldon is said to be working on the eighth. If you like historical fiction, romance and plenty of action then it may well appeal to you.
