Born on November 17 1983 in Southern California Christopher Paolini was homeschooled and would graduate at the age of fifteen whereupon he began writing his first novel Eragon. Inspired by J.R.R Tolkien and and Beowulf Paolini sayd his major influence when writing Eragon came from the book Jeremy Thatcher, Dragon Hatcher, by Bruce Coville.
Initially published in 2002 by his parents’ publishing company Eragon was destined to become another small number run novel that went nowhere that is until the stepson of author Carl Hiaasen found Eragon in a bookstore and loved it.
