Author Harlan Coben is no stranger to the streaming platform, Netflix, and with the news of a new upcoming adaptation of another of his thriller novels, Netflix’s love affair with his work continues. A new eight-part series will adapt Coben’s 2019 book, Run Away, and will star a sparkling line-up on actors including Gavin and Stacey’s Ruth Jones, Cold Feet’s James Nesbitt, as well as British-American actress Minnie Driver and Alfred Enoch, who played Dean Thomas in the Harry Potter series.
“Jimmy Nesbitt, Ruth Jones, Alfred Enoch, Lucian Msamati and Minnie Driver – the cast is an embarrassment of riches. I can’t wait to start filming,” Coben said.
The novel tells the story of Simon (Nesbitt) as his life falls apart when his daughter Paige (Ellie de Lange) runs away. Filming for the series adaptation is due to start in Manchester and north-west England later this month, with the story relocating to the UK from the US in keeping with previous Netflix adaptions of Coben’s work – of which there are twelve prior to this one.
Danny Brocklehurst, who has adapted several Coben novels including Fool Me Once starring Michelle Keegan and Dame Joanna Lumley, will be lead writer for Run Away.
“Fool Me Once’s phenomenal success has set a high bar but with Run Away’s emotionally universal storyline and great cast, hopefully we can give audiences another fantastic ride,” he said.
Other Harlan Coben adaptations currently available on Netflix include: Missing You, Fool Me Once, The Woods, Innocent, The Stranger, Gone For Good, Stay Close, Safe, and Hold Tight. So, there are plenty to watch ahead of the release of Run Away.
