Matt Haig’s The Midnight Library to become a graphic novel

The Midnight Library, a novel from bestselling author Matt Haig, is set to be reimagined in graphic novel form. The beautifully illustrated graphic novel will be adapted by Fred Fordham, whose previous works have included the graphic novels: To Kill a Mockingbird, A Wizard of Earthsea, and Brave New World.

Publisher Penguin Random House said: “Matt Haig’s beloved international phenomenon is reborn as a gorgeous graphic novel that captures every iteration of Nora’s lives in vivid colors and immersive illustrations by Fred Fordham.

“This special visual edition is a must-have for the bookshelves of both long-time lovers of Matt Haig and new readers alike.”

Matt Haig’s The Midnight Library (2020) is a speculative fiction novel that centres Nora Seed, who has reached the breaking point in her life. When she finds herself in a magical library that allows her to explore infinite different versions of her life though, she begins to discover what truly makes life worth living.

Sharing the news on Matt Haig’s website, a spokesperson explained: “Fred Fordham is a genius and he has brought Nora and the library to such vivid life, almost precisely as Matt imagined it.”

The Midnight Library will be published by Penguin Random House in the U.S. and Canongate Books in the UK on 8th October 2026.
