The leaves are changing colour, Autumn has arrived and spooky season is just around the corner with Halloween fast-approaching. With the weather changing, now is a great time to curl up with a good book while the rain pours outside.
Members of the LGBTQ+ community often feel an affinity with Halloween; whether it’s simply the chance to dress up and express yourself in a way that might be less accepted the rest of the year, whether it’s because more drag queens and kings are born at this time of year, or whether it’s a connection with characters and creatures that are othered, there’s often a draw to all things ethereal, witchy or spooky. So, from cosy Autumnal witchy reads and queer mysteries to creeping trans haunted house horrors and unexplained creatures, FRA recommends our pick of LGBTQ+ Halloween reads.
