Judith Kerr’s Mog to return to screens

Following the success of the BAFTA-nominated animation, Mog’s Christmas which first aired in 2023, the much-loved cat – created by the late Judith Kerr – will return to TV screens this winter in a new animated film. Channel 4 have announced the casting for Mog’s Bad Thing from Lupus Films, which will see returning voice actors alongside new voices who will join the seasonal special.

Returning to the world of Mog are Adjoa Andoh (Bridgerton) as the Narrator, Benedict Cumberbatch (Doctor Strange) as Mr Thomas, Claire Foy (The Crown) as Mrs Thomas, Amelie Law (Mog’s Christmas) as Debbie and Teddy Skelton (Mog’s Christmas) as Nicky.

Also joining the cast for this seasonal special are John Thomson (Break Clause) as Mr Bunce, Katherine Parkinson (Rivals) as Mrs Ramsbottom, Mawaan Rizwan (Juice) as Ali and Amelia Theodorou (Mog’s Bad Thing) as Amy.

In their announcement, Channel 4 give an outline of the upcoming film: “In Mog’s Bad Thing, Mog is the Thomas family tabby cat who always finds herself in big trouble. The family are hosting a cat show in their garden which should be Mog’s chance to shine, but in all the excitement she does a “bad thing” which means she hides in the attic feeling sorry for herself and misses the start of the show. Can Mog find a way to leave her hiding place, make her family proud and save the day?”

Lupus Films’ hand-drawn animation is written by Joanna Harrison and adapted from Judith Kerr’s children’s picture book of the same name, which first published in 2000, making it the fifteenth book in Mog series. The seasonal special will air on Channel 4 this Christmas.
