Last week, we published a piece about Amanda Gorman, the young American poet who stole the show when she recited her poem The Hill We Climb at the inauguration of Joe Biden earlier this month. It was soon announced that Gorman would have three books releasing in the near future, and demand for them is so high that one million copies of each will be published.

As CNN reports, The Hill We Climb and Other Poems and Change Sings: A Children’s Anthem are both set to be published later this year on 21 September, as well as a special edition of The Hill We Climb with a forward from Oprah Winfrey which will be published on  16 March. Executive director of publicity and corporate communications at Penguin Young Readers, Shanta Newlin, said: “Our goal has been to publish and release the ‘The Hill We Climb: An Inaugural Poem for the Country‘ as soon as possible. We initially set a publication date of April 27th and today announced a new and improved date of March 16th.”

The books are still ranking high on Amazon and Barnes and Nobles’ bestseller lists and it looks like interest in her work is only growing. Gorman recently signed a deal with IMG Models, which has represented the likes of Kate Moss and Gisele Bündchen. It has also been announced Gorman will be the first poet ever to recite a poem at the Super Bowl in February. The NFL announced Gorman will perform an original poem and honour three people who have served to help others in their community during the COVID-19 pandemic.

No doubt we’ll be seeing a lot more of the poet in the coming months, and we look forward to reading and hearing more of her work.
