Malorie Blackman, author of countless children’s books including the hit Noughts and Crosses series and Dapo Adeola an award-winning children’s book illustrator (Clean Up!, Look Up! And Space Detectives) are now joining forces to publish a new children’s book. The children’s book will be an adventurous, illustrated picture book created by this superstar pairing.
Back in November 2020, Dapo Adeola teased the new book with some sketches of the characters shared on Twitter. Adeola tweeted that he was working on his dream picture book with a mind-blowing author and he couldn’t wait to share it with his fans.
I’m working on an absolute DREAM of a picture book right now that I can’t wait to drop on yous guys 🥺 like, the author is just 🤯 and the characters and world they’ve planted for me to grow is just 🥰…can’t wait for you to meet these two characters properly. ☺️ pic.twitter.com/5nlX0yG4M2

His followers, however, were left wondering until January this year when Dapo Adeola was finally able to announce what he had been working on. “The news is finally out,” he declared and it was finally revealed that he had been working with the amazing Malorie Blackman to create a new children’s picture book entitled We’re Going to Find the Monster.
The story is great for reading out loud with your little one and it follows two intrepid adventurers as their home transforms into a wild and wonderful land in which their older brother becomes a mighty monster.
As well as being a joyful book full of creativity, fantasy, family and the importance of letting a child’s imagination run wild, Blackman and Dapo’s book is also full of funny and relatable characters including one who, from the early illustrations, appears to have Vitiligo.
I’d like to introduce you to our stars with this super early concept drawing. ☺️ @malorieblackman really gave me some amazing material to work with. 💚 pic.twitter.com/8Nay21ZroO
