At Home with 4 Indies – Bringing you Live Literary Events

As bookshops are having to close and many literary festivals are cancelling their events due to concerns around Coronavirus (Corvid-19), many companies and artists are having to think outside the box and find new ways to connect with their audiences. Thanks to the internet and social media platforms, digital shows and events are becoming increasingly popular, whether it’s live readings of children’s books to keep the little ones entertained or whether it an online launch for a new book, there seems to be something out there for everyone.

Now, a new group called ‘At Home with 4 Indies’ has emerged to bring live literary events to readers via social media. At Home with 4 Indies is a collection of four independent bookshops in the UK, Forum Books, Booka Bookshop, Linghams Booksellers and Book-ish who are working together with authors, publishers and other fellow indie bookstores to bring readers live author events during isolation.

All their events will be live-streamed on their Facebook page which you can find here. At Home with 4 Indies’ first event kicks off on Monday 20th April at 8pm on Facebook Live, with Jack Monroe, AKA the Bootstrap Cook. Jack will be talking about her food writing and giving viewers some hints and tips regarding making the most of whatever you’ve got in your cupboard during lockdown. Jack will also be taking questions, so if you can think of one ahead of time, please message At Home with 4 Indies so that they can select the best ones for the evening. In lieu of the usual book sales or ticket prices, Jack would love people who are able to donate to the Trussell Trust, to help support those who are currently using Food Banks across the UK.

Following Jack Monroe’s event, At Home With 4 Indies also have two more events currently listed, with more hopefully coming soon. On 22nd April, readers can tune into ‘At Home with Robert Webb’ who will be talking about his début novel, Come Again which published the following day. Then, on the 27th April, bookworms will be able to join an event called ‘At Home with Sebastian Barry’ in which the author will be talking about his latest novel, A Thousand Moons.

To keep up-to-date with these events and any other live literary streams hosted by At Home with 4 Indies, head to Facebook and follow them. Stay safe, stay at home, and save lives.
