“One-of-a-kind, this book is a must-have for every curious mythology enthusiast and budding artist!”

NO MAJOR SPOILERS

Renowned mythologist Devdutt Pattanaik is expanding his series of read and colour storybooks for children. Shyam, Our Little Krishna does the job of combining storybook, picture book, and colouring book making it an all in one piece of entertainment for children.

The stories gathered together are ones which most grandparents would know and love – Krishna’s delivery to Devaki’s home, his childhood feats and his endearing fondness for butter which he shared with friends and monkeys. There is also the not so well known fact that his foster mother used to dress him in little girl’s clothes and so did the women whose clothes he stole in a fit of teenage mischief – which adds a trendy note of cross-dressing to the story.

He combines the mischief and folklore that makes Krishna such a beloved deity with his own masterful illustrations – the only point is that it will take a child with a steady hand to fill in the lines without smearing the rest of the pages. Possibly a guiding adult can be roped in to do the work!
