A highly regarded and rated surgeon, Dr Simon Bairstow, has performed many life-saving surgeries. But his latest patient, Eve Johnson, doesn’t make it through. And suddenly, her parents find themselves in a void. The mother wants answers for the error that’s taken Eve away from her, and will stop at nothing to showcase Dr Bairstow’s failure.
Noah and Jess, a newly married couple, are driving back from Jess’s mother’s place. In the midst of a terrible traffic hold-up, they hear thumping from the back doors of the transit van in front of them. Despite Jess’s protests, Noah steps out to investigate. He hears muffled screams and manages to wiggle open the back door. What he sees shocks him to the core – an elderly couple are being kidnapped, and the husband, Ron, manages to plead to Noah to help them, before the van pulls away. Noah decides to follow in pursuit, in an attempt to save them. Jess’s cries falls on deaf ears.
Chloe’s parents are missing. She hasn’t seen them since they left her 18th birthday party on Friday night. She is desperate with worry and decides that she needs to proactively do something about it, as the police seem to be drawing dead ends.
In the midst of this all, there is a serial killer loose on the streets of North London. He grotesquely mutilates his victims and seems to strike majorly against women. The press have dubbed him “The Angel Attacker.”
How are these separate story lines connected? Though you keep wondering what is going to be the conclusion to the seemingly various small individual stories, the amalgamation at the end is shocking and terrifying. The lead character is ruthless, heartless and seems to be the devil re-incarnated, with no remorse whatsoever.
Told between the past and the present, this psychological horror story of the deepest form of revenge, will make you cringe. A terrifying tale with a twist that will hit you in the gut. There is blood and gore, and atrocities of the worst kind.
Dark and disturbing, yet unputdownable.
Recommended if you can handle angst and gore.
