Cormoran Strike, A Casting, and a Fourth Book

By September 7, 2016New Releases, News, Television

The Hogwarts Train with Rowling in the driving seat is steaming to success this year, and we’re not sure how Jo is keeping up with it all. It’s been completely hectic on the Harry Potter front, and today we have news from her other loveable character, Cormoran Strike!

While Rowling herself admits that the Harry Potter work has set back the new Galbraith novel somewhat, it does seem that book four will be coming in 2017. To date there has been a new book in the Cormoran Strike series of detective novels every year but 2016 was the year of the Harry Potter comeback, so fans of the detective will have to wait a little longer.

Anyone who is following the series, written under the pseudonym, Robert Galbraith (Me! Me!) will be eagerly chomping at the bit, as book three, Career of Evil, ended on a huge cliffhanger!

If you can’t wait until 2017 then we do have some other interesting news regarding Cormoran Strike! Last year we heard that the series was to be turned into a television mini-series ‘The Cormoran Strike Mysteries’, and now there’s more news!

The adaptation will air on BBC, and we assume there’s a good chance that it will appear on Netflix eventually, as many other fantastic BBC dramas have already. The first book, The Cuckoo’s Calling will be aired as a three-part “event drama”, and Tom Burke is cast as Cormoran Strike. The actor, who played the dashing Dolokhov recently in the adaptation of War and Peace had already been hotly tipped for the role, and we can’t wait to see how he brings the larger than life Cormoran Strike to the screen.

It’s then planned that both The Silkworm, and Career of Evil will then each be filmed as two-part dramas, with presumably more to come as they are written and published.

However, while all that is fantastic news, filming is to start in the Autumn, and the first of these television dramas isn’t set to air until the end of 2017. At least by then we hope to have read the fourth book in the series!
