This video from 1946 is titled Enid Blyton – Personality Meet and is from the British Pathé archives. It’s almost unbelievably over the top in its Britishness; I love the way that Enid is introduced as ‘Mrs Darrell Waters’ so as to prolong the suspense of those wondering whom they were watching.
I love her typewriter, her single digit punching at each key; her fingers must have been worn to the bone when in a writing frenzy but of course she does break for completely spontaneous and random games of Snap, so it’s not all work and no play for Mrs Darrell Waters.
