Widely regarded as one of the finest children’s authors of all time, Roald Dahl penned classic titles such as Fantastic Mr. Fox, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and The Witches to name a few. If you grew up reading Dahl’s books, or have young ones you read them to, then you’ll want to check out the first official trailer for To Olivia, a biopic film about the famous author.
The film sees Hugh Bonneville starring as Dahl, and Keeley Hawes as his wife and actress, Patricia Neal, and follows their struggle to cope following a tragic loss which affects Dahl’s work and leaves him in a deep depression. The film also features Geoffrey Palmer in his final performance following his death earlier this year.
To Olivia is based on Stephen Michael Shearer’s biography about Neal, called An Unquiet Life. Despite the tragic circumstances, this is also the period that inspired some of Dahl’s most well-known works, including James and the Giant Peach and The BFG. The film is set to be released in cinemas on 19 February as well as Sky Cinema.
