We’re finally seeing a little sunshine but we have a few more weeks of long dark nights to get through before we can finally enjoy some spring (Forgive me if you’re reading this from Australia, these suggestions will be perfect for the beach!).
I digress. A new month is upon us and as always that comes with some new book releases, so we’ve picked from them, five fabulous books that are to be released this February.

In Other Words – Jhumpa Lahiri
Lahiri’s last novel, Sleeping on Jupiter was the winner of the DSC prize for literature so we have high hopes for In Other Words, released February 9th.
My Father the Pornographer – Chris Offutt
Probably the least titillating book you’ll ever read about the porn industry but a fascinating memoir of a complicated father son relationship. Released on February 9th.

Your Heart is a Muscle the Size of a Fist – Sunil Yapa
An impressive debut novel set amidst the 1999 World Trade Organisation protests, Your Heart is a Muscle the Size of a Fist is a tale of humanity and compassion. This was a January release but I’m including it anyway
Your Heart is a Muscle the Size of a Fist US
Your Heart is a Muscle the Size of a Fist UK
The Ballad of Black Tom – Victor LaValle
This Novella is said to be a homage and a reaction to H.P Lovecraft and his legacy of racism. Released on 26th January.

Stars Above – Marissa Meyer
Our YA selection is the next book in the Lunar Chronicles series. Need I say more? Stars Above was released on 2nd February.
Hopefully that’ll be enough to keep you going through another chilly month, and hopefully by the time we all wake from our winter book-bernation the sun will be shining and spring will be in the air.
