George RR Martin has teamed up with Marvel to create a new comic book series.
The Game of Thrones writer has described the collaboration as a “privilege” that brought him “no end of joy”.
The comic book series will be based on Wild Cards, written by over 40 authors over 30 years and originally created and edited by Martin.
Wild Cars tells of an alternate history where the people of Earth have super-powers.
The plan is to have the comics produced as a limited series, and will be written by Paul Cornell and Mike Hawthorne.
Mr Martin announced the project: “As my fans may already know, the Wild Cards world holds a special place in my heart.
“So to have the privilege of announcing that an industry titan like Marvel is going to produce the narrative from the beginning as a comic book brings me no end of joy.”
Wild Cards is due for release on 1st of June.
