Today we hear that the publishers Hachette UK is partnering with the organisation All About Trans to promote understanding and become a better trans ally. The move is the latest in Hachette UK’s Changing the Story programme, a move devoted to diversity and inclusion.
The programme has been developed after recent events saw the issue brought to the light. Recently a number of Hachette UK’s staff signed a group letter asking the company to address the lack of reaction to J. K Rowling’s contentious views while printing her new children’s book, The Ickabog, and a consultation with the company’s Pride employee network.
All About Trans was created by the charity On Road Media, a small company that aseeks to improve media coverage of communities who are misrepresented. From September Hachette UK will be working with All About Trans on a series of curated meet ups and as a further way of supporting the issues in hand, Hachette UK is making a donation of £10,000 to Stonewall UK, Britain’s leading LGBTQ+ charity.
