Heartstopper to conclude with a film

Heartstopper, a graphic novel series from Alice Oseman, has been getting the Netflix treatment with (so far) three series adaptations on the streaming platform. When Netflix did not announce that series four had been given the green light, fans began to worry that the much-loved LGBTQ+ coming-of-age series had been cancelled until it was revealed that Charlie, Nick and their friends’ stories will conclude with a feature film adaptation that will encompass the remaining graphic novels.

The film will star Kit Connor (Nick Nelson) and Joe Locke (Charlie Spring), who will also serve as executive producers alongside writer Alice Oseman, and Patrick Walters, Iain Canning, Emile Sherman, Euros Lyn. The film is written by Heartstopper creator, executive producer, and graphic novelist, Alice Oseman, and it reportedly begins filming this summer.

The final installment of Heartstopper in feature film format will pick up where series three left off, with Nick preparing to leave for university and Charlie finding new independence at school without Nick by his side. The reality of a long-distance relationship, however, brings them their biggest relationship challenge yet.

“I am completely overjoyed that we will get to tell the end of the Heartstopper story,” Oseman said.

“I’m so grateful to everyone who has worked hard to make this possible and to the incredible fans of Heartstopper for your patience and passion. I cannot wait to bring this story to a magical conclusion.”
