Two Bibliophiles Create a Cat Proof Christmas Tree Made from Books

The Holiday season is finally upon us and it’s that magical time of year where we embrace good cheer, exchange gifts, and ward off the cold of Winter with mulled wine and good food. Millions of people around the world will be dusting off their Christmas decorations and hanging up their stockings whilst Christmas tunes play. A Christmas tree is no doubt the most iconic of all the decorations, but one book lover has put a twist on the classic by making a tree from books.

It’s still made of wood, but rather than dropping Pine needles all over the floor, this Christmas book tree allows you to show off your collection of books whilst also celebrating the Holidays. A user on Reddit named 4b3ats, posted the photograph of her book tree whilst explaining that she came home late last night to find her boyfriend had created this excellent literary tree.

Erin explained to us that her boyfriend Kyle decided to create the special tree because the couple’s three cats kept on pulling down the regular tree. No doubt many cat owners reading this can attest to just how fascinated cats are by the presence of a tree in the house. The book tree was built in the hope that it might better withstand the curiosity of the cats and apparently it is still standing after three days, though a couple of the Pop! Vinyl figures have taken a tumble. Erin and Kyle are both big book lovers and even have their own makeshift library in their basement.

Any readers out there who also have overly curious cats, are tired of having to sweep up Pine needles, or simply want to celebrate Christmas with literary style should certainly have a go making their own book Christmas tree, it’s also useful to those of you who have run out of shelf space!

Books such as George R.R. Martin’s A Dance with Dragons, J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter series, Jack London’s Tales of the North, Terry Pratchett’s Feet of Clay, and Elizabeth Gilbert’s Eat Pray Love, help make up the tree and also indicate very good taste in literature.

We hope Erin and Kyle’s Christmas book tree will inspire you to make your own. What books would you include and which book would you have at the very top?
