A Netflix series adaptation for Kristin Hannah’s novel, Firefly Lane was first announced back in February 2019 when it was revealed that the streaming service had ordered 10 episodes. Firefly Lane is an adaptation of the novel by the same name from the prolific author Kristin Hannah who also wrote; The Nightingale, Winter Garden and The Great Alone.
The bestselling novel, Firefly Lane was first published in 2013 and it is set in the mid-1970s, following a coming-of-age story than spans over three decades. The novels main characters are Kate Mularkey and Tully Hart and the story follows their relationship from its early days of inception to the present day.
These two unlikely friends, Kate – an introvert and Tully – the coolest girl in school – form an unbreakable bond that weathers their good times and their bad times from their teens until their 40s.
Netflix’s Firefly Lane series is produced by Brightlight Pictures who are known for their adpatations both in TV and film form including; Stephen King’s 1922. The cast include for the series includes Katherine Heigl as Tully Hart and Sarah Chalke as Kate Mularkey.
Series one of Firefly Lane was originally tipped to be released in 2020, however, it will actually come to Netflix 3rd February 2021.
