Lemony Snicket & Daniel Handler – Bookish Quotes from Both

By February 28, 2016February 27th, 2018Authors, Quotations

I love Lemony Snicket; I first picked up the book The Bad Beginning from the A Series of Unfortunate Events series thinking it was a parody of Harry Potter, I have no idea why, I just did but it was nothing of the sort and within a very short space of time I was absorbed into the world of Violet, Klaus, and Sunny Baudelaire.

I was fascinated by who this Lemony Snicket might be and had soon read the entire series discovering along the way that Lemony had an alter ego, Daniel Handler who along with being a rather brilliant author, is an accomplished musician and screenwriter.

Of course, Lemony and therefore by association Daniel, are a delightful source of quips and quotes and we’ve shared just a few of them with you here in this blog.

“Never trust anyone who has not brought a book with them.”

“Wicked people never have time for reading. It’s one of the reasons for their wickedness.”

“A good library will never be too neat, or too dusty, because somebody will always be in it, taking books off the shelves and staying up late reading them.”

“All the secrets of the world are contained in books. Read at your own risk.”

“Well-read people are less likely to be evil.”

“If you are a student you should always get a good nights sleep unless you have come to the good part of your book, and then you should stay up all night and let your schoolwork fall by the wayside, a phrase which means ‘flunk’.”

“Reading is one form of escape. Running for your life is another.”

I might just have to go back and revisit these books after reading these quotes.
