If you’ve already watched the recent adaptations of the Cormoran Strike novels on the BBC then you’ve had a real treat, and now it’s announced that the adaptation of the recently released Lethal White is already in the works!
The adaptations have been fantastic and both Tom Burke and Holliday Grainger have exceeded expectations in the leading roles.
My only complaint about the adaptations is that they felt a bit rushed. The Cuckoo’s Calling was wrapped up in three episodes, The Silkworm in just two, and Career of Evil in just two. If you’ve read the books then you’ll know just how much they missed out to cram it into a shorter series, many adaptations stretch out into six or more episodes but that hasn’t been the case for Strike.
We are having some kind of happy medium with Lethal White, it’s announced that the book will take place over four episodes, although this also feels a little short for a 650 page book adaptation (we readers are never happy, are we?).
So far, not many more details have been announced, we know returning characters from the previous shows will come back, not least Burke and Grainger and we know that the show will premier on BBC.
Lethal White follows the story of a mentally ill Billy, who stumbles into Strike’s office claiming he has seen the death of a child many years ago. The adaptation will follow the story in the newly released book and I for one cannot wait for it to hit our screens.
As the book is just released we don’t yet have a release date for the series, but as soon as we have any news we’ll be back to let you know.
