Pulitzer prize for Fiction 2016 goes to Debut Novel

By April 19, 2016Literary Awards

When The Sympathizer by Viet Thanh Nguyen turned up on a couple of award shortlists this year, we couldn’t find out much about the novel. The debut novel has been largely ignore by much of the literary scene, hasn’t appeared in the prestiged New York review and has been much overlooked by the literary world.

However, all this is now set to change as The Sympathizer takes home one of the most esteemed prizes in the industry, the Pulitzer Prize for fiction 2016, and if you haven’t yet heard much about the novel, we’re fairly sure you soon will!

Everyone knows the Pulitzer stamp sells books, you’d only have to ask Anthony Doerr, author of last year’s winner All the Light We Cannot See. Thanks to the Pulitzer, and of course the author’s great writing, All the Light created a real buzz around the literary world and quite a stir within our own and with a Pulitzer sticker on the cover it’s likely that The Sympathizer will do just as well.

Here are all the books highlighted by Pulitzer for 2016:

Some great titles there across all the nominated genres, but as always the most hyped Pulitzer is the fiction prize and you can guarantee that The Sympathizer will go on to be one of the bestsellers of the year.
