Minecraft to get the Max Brooks Treatment

By September 27, 2016New Releases, News

Minecraft is a world best selling sandbox game that was invented by Swedish programmer Markus “Notch” Persson in 2011 and then developed by Mojang games; it took the world by storm and is available across all platforms spawning YouTube accounts, how to guide books and a whole slew of merchandise.
Now Minecraft is to get the novel treatment of being turned into a series of books with World War Z author Max Brooks who has been brought in to adapt the game into a literary masterpiece.

The news of the upcoming adaptation was broken on the Mojang forum with Mojang brand director Lydia Winters saying “From our first meeting with Max, we knew he would be a perfect fit for our first foray into novels based on Minecraft,” said Winters. “His enthusiasm and understanding of all things related to the game bring out the sense of wonder and possibility that so many players love about Minecraft–ourselves included.”

Minecraft: The Island will follow “a hero stranded in an unfamiliar land, with unfamiliar rules, learning to survive against tremendous odds.” Which for anyone familiar with the game itself, is pretty much exactly what happens when you play Minecraft in Survival Mode. With Minecraft blogger Marsh Davies saying he’d peeked at an early draft and to “Think cuboid Robinson Crusoe, but madder.” the book looks as though it plans to remain true to the game’s off kilter and funny take on the survival theme.

As for the author? “I’m very excited to be part of this new venture,” said Brooks. “Finally, I can justify all those hours I’ve spent playing Minecraft.”
