Mr B’s Emporium Crowdfunder Closes on £64,000

Last month we announced that Mr B’s Emporium of Reading Delights in Bath was running a fundraiser in the hope of expanding its premises after a neighbouring shop became vacant. Lots of people have supported the fundraiser for this iconic book shop and now the Crowdfunder has closed to the tune of almost £64,000!

The Crowfunding campaign launched on 9th October with the hope of raising £45,000 to expand the shop. This amount was smashed within weeks and a new stretch target of £70,000 was set to help the shop reduced its reliance on expensive bank funding and when the campaign closed on Monday afternoon it was announced that £63,765 had been raised for the project.

This means the shop received 90% of its stretch target from a total of 847 supporters within 28 days, which is quite the achievement! The crowdfunding means that Mr B’s will be able to take on a second lease on the shop’s adjacent premises to create inspiring new spaces entirely through internal investment, campaign pledges and the shop’s existing cash-flow facilities.

Nick Bottomley, co-owner and Mr B spoke to the Bookseller last month and said he was completely surprised at the speed at which pledges had rolled in, and since the crowfunder has closed the shop’s team has stated how grateful they are at the support they have received from the wider community.

Mr B’s Emporium is a fantastic bookshop and arguably one of the best bookshops in the UK, something we stated in our most recent Facebook video 😉
