Mr Men and Little Miss books have been in our lives since 1971 and are a big part of many people’s childhood memories but that may soon be changed…
The trend of humorous parody books for adults is still in full force- from Ladybird How To books to Enid Blyton’s Famous Five series, nothing is safe!
Roger Hargreaves’ Mr Men and Little Miss series have recently had the same treatment where Little Miss Lucky has her Hen Night, Mr Grumpy tackles fatherhood, Little Miss Shy tries her hand at online dating, Mr Greedy has a go at getting fit, and poor Mr Happy has to go to his office party.
It may seem frivolous or pointless but these little jokey books do make great (but cheap) gifts. According to reviews online they’re not bad stories either, which is a bonus. The Mr Men and Little Misses are a little late to the ‘adult parodies of children’s books’ party but this is a good effort on their part.
