Over the past few years, Polish author Andresj Sapkowski shot to fame following the success of several video games based upon his The Witcher fantasy series. The books follow Geralt of Rivia, a grizzled monster hunter with enhanced abilities who roams the lands in search of contracts. The books are acclaimed for Sapkowski’s ability to raise interesting moral conundrums, as well as his ability to take classic fairy tales and turn them on their head.
Fans of the books were pleased when Netflix announced that it had secured the rights to create a TV show based on the books and, if you’re looking forward to it, then you’ll want to check out these new images that have been released.

Superman star Henry Cavil will play the world-weary Witcher, a casting choice that seems ideal given that Cavil has spoken in the past about his enthusiasm for the books and his desire to play the role. So far we’ve seen a trailer for the show but not a lot more. Netflix has confirmed that the series will make its debut later this year but an exact release date has not been confirmed. Here’s hoping the show lives up to the quality of the source material.
