The Glass Hotel Coming in 2019

Fans of Station Eleven will be thrilled today to hear that news that a follow up novel, the Glass Hotel is to be released in 2019. Picador has acquired the rights to the novel, which we’re hoping will be available on pre order soon, before it’s expected release around 18 months from now.

The Glass Hotel begins in 2004 when a young cook disappears from a container ship. Four years later a huge Ponzi scheme implodes in New York wiping countless fortunes. This book moved back and forth through the chronology, weaving the tangle of lives caught up in the events.

If it doesn’t sound much like Station Eleven that’s because it isn’t a direct sequel, rather a follow on, and Emily St. John Mandel hints that characters from Station Eleven may appear in this new novel.

Station Eleven was published in 2014 and was a resounding success and winner of the Arthur C. Clarke Award 2015, shortlisted for the 2016 National Book Award, shortlisted for the Bailey’s Women’s Prize for Fiction, and a finalist for the 2015 PEN/Faulkner Prize.

If you haven’t yet read Station Eleven then we highly recommend it, and while we don’t yet have any further news or pre-order information for The Glass Hotel, we will update the moment we know more!
