Instagram Influencer in fake book scandal!

An Instagram ‘influencer’ has been caught out in a ‘fake book’ scandal.

The French Instagram superstar Maddy Burciaga, who is currently based in Dubai, has an impressive following of over 2.4 million followers. The social media celebrity has been in a spot of bother by allegedly promoting fake expensive books as “the perfect props” for posing on social media.

The 27-year-old showed off her fake copies of Chanel and Yves Saint Laurent books, commenting how ‘real books’ would be far more expensive than cardboard copies… Which is true, but only useful if you have no intention of ever reading the books, only looking at them.

After showcasing the products, Maddy Burciaga proceeded to offer promo codes allowing her fans to not only get a great price (€19.99 per book) but also take advantage of a buy-one-get-one-free deal.

The real issue is that the books are made by the Insta-influencer herself and infringe on the copyrights of the originals’ owners. Unfortunately for Maddy, she has committed an offence by owning and showing off the books because they are counterfeit.

Maddy Burciaga also attempted to sell her ‘fake books’, offering promo codes to fans so they could receive one for €19.99 per book, including a buy-one-get-one-free deal.

The allegedly dodgy scheme came to light after some fans realised you could buy counterfeit books exactly like the ones the model was selling on a Chinese website for a fraction of the price.

This wasn’t the first time Maddy was caught in a scandal as in November 2020 there was drama surrounding an alleged fake charity donation scam, and the charity involved demanded their name was removed from all of her posts.

She is now facing legal action for the counterfeit books.
