Keanu Reeves is writing his first ever comic book as part of a series!

Reeves has joined award-winning graphic novelist Matt Kindt to create his debut comic, BRZRKR. It will be a limited twelve-issue series due out October 2020.

Journalists report the “action-packed and hyperviolent” graphic novel BRZRKR, is complete with illustrations from well-known and celebrated artist Alessandro Vitti, along with colourist Bill Crabtree, letterer Clem Robins, and conceptual artist Rafael Grampá.

Each monthly issue tells of a warrior, ‘Berzerker’, who has “walked a blood-soaked path across the world for centuries”, up to present day where Berzerker works “dangerous jobs for the U.S. government in exchange for the truth about his existence.”

Keanu Reeves commented on the character: “He’s seen a lot,” he explained, adding that the graphic novels work through a mix of heavy themes including “the nature of violence, morals, ethics (and) what side do you choose,” as the story attempts to offer “a little fantasy.”

“I have loved comics since I was a young kid and they have been a significant influence on me artistically,” Reeves said in his official statement, referring to the collaboration on BRZRKR as “a dream come true.”

There is also potential for the novel to be adapted as a live action movie, and BRZRKR has since been pitched to BOOM! studios, with a hint at Netflix as having first refusal of the script.

Reeves said he would love to play the main character Berzerker, adding that “it’s a really fun story so if it’s not me, hopefully someone can play it.”
