Terry Pratchett’s old house where he created the Discworld is up for sale

The house previously owned by the late Sir Terry Pratchett, creator of the Discworld series, is for sale.

The fantasy author lived at Gaze Cottage for over 20 years from 1970 to 1994. The 18th century property sits in a third of an acre of lush garden in the village of Rowberrow, Somerset.

The author, who died in 2015 after eight years living with Alzheimer’s, wrote over 70 books during his career, any of which were dreamed up in that very cottage.

His last book was written in 2014.

Ruth Treasure-Smith, from Robin King Estate Agent, said: “He wrote most of his most famous novels in that house in the 80s.”

Pratchett had received letters to Gaze Cottage addressed to the “Hogfather”, a favourite character satirically based on Father Christmas/Santa Claus from the Discworld series.

“The house must have been inspiring. The current owner purchased the property from Terry Pratchett and has lived at the house since.”
