We started at 1918, bringing you the bestselling books of the last one hundred years. We’re moving along now and we’re starting to get close to what will be the end of this blog series as today we feature 2003.
In 2004, the Olympics went home and were held in August in Athens in Greece. In the US the CIA admitted that there were no weapons of mass destruction threat in the lead up to the Iraq war. In the same vein Spain withdrew its troops from Iraq, and the European Union expanded to include ten more member states.
Among all that there were plenty of books published too. So here they are, the ten top selling books of 2004. We’re also featuring some well known books that didn’t make the cut!
2004 also saw the release of Susanna Clarke’s Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell, Cloud Atlas, by David Mitchell, and Philip Roth’s, The Plot Against America.
