Publishers Battle for Rachel Bland’s ‘Moving’ Memoir

By September 8, 2018Authors, News

Earlier this week Radio 5 Live presenter Rachel Bland died after a long and heavily publicised battle with an aggressive form of breast cancer. The presenter was diagnosed with incurable cancer in November 2016 and died on 5th September.

In the space between those dates, Bland spoke frequently about her illness in the podcast You, Me and the Big C in which she documented her fight and now it’s announced that during this time she also wrote an eleven chapter memoir for her son, Freddie to read when he’s older. Now publishers are battling for the rights for the memoir, which is said to be a personal and moving account, without self-pity.

Just before her death, Bland stated that her main aim now was to finish the memoir ‘For Freddie’ before she died. She stated that the memoir was a collection of all the stories your parents tell you over the years from their point of view, and all the advice they give you.

It’s reported that one publisher has already placed a bid for the rights to the memoir, and once it has a publisher we’ll bring you details of a release date and more information about the memoir.
