Robin Hobb is an author I discovered fairly late in my reading life, last year in fact and she has leapt into my top ten authors of all time. The pen name of Margaret Astrid Lindholm Ogden, she writes epic fantasy novels, huge ones and usually in trilogies and carry overs and sagas.
If you enjoy a really chunky book that will keep you absorbed for days, the Robin is the author for you, from Tawny Man, to Liveship Traders to The Farseer books you will be mesmerised by the worlds she weaves inside your mind.
Here we have gathered together some quotes from her fantasies that resonate just as well here, in the real world. We hope you enjoy them.

“Don’t do what you can’t undo, until you’ve considered what you can’t do once you’ve done it.”
“Not being able to think of a reply is not the same thing as accepting another’s words.”

“Very little worth knowing is taught by fear.”
“Diplomacy is the velvet glove that cloaks the fist of power.”

“That is the trick of good government. To make folk desire to live in such a way that there is no need for its intervention.”
“Look forward, not back. Correct your course and go on. You cannot undo yesterday’s journey.”

“What a man can take with a sword, a woman can give by her flesh alone. Life.”
Considering these are designed to work in a fantasy setting, don’t they work well in real life!
