Over the years we’ve seen many Shakespeare retellings hit the shelves and later this year sees the release of Blood Queen, the first book in a new trilogy featuring Shakespeare’s Queens by Joanna Courtney.
Blood Queen will be released later this year and will tell the story of Lady Macbeth and will be the first book in a series on the queens made famous by the Bard.
Piatkus Fiction has acquired the rights to the series and publishing director Anna Boatman described the novels as “brilliantly researched” and “evocatively written”
The pre-release blurb reads “Behind every great man may be a great woman, but behind every powerful woman seems to lurk an evil reputation. Joanna’s brilliantly researched and evocatively written novels are a delight – seeing Shakespeare’s villains and victims recreated as flesh and blood women is surely the essence of Herstory. We can’t wait to share this trilogy with readers,”
Blood Queen will be available in September 2018 with the paperback released in the summer of next year.
