Talisman Author, Peter Straub dies at 79

Author Peter Straub who was best known for his popular horror and supernatural fiction, including his collaborations with Stephen King such as The Talisman, has died at 79. His daughter, Emma Straub who is also a best-selling author shared the news on Instagram yesterday.

Straub died on 4th September and Emma paid tribute by saying.

“Peter Francis Straub, the smartest and most fun person in every room he was ever in, 3/2/43 – 9/4/22. How lucky we were. There aren’t enough words in the world.”

Straub was a lifelong reader and writer who became a household name thanks to his collaborations with Stephen King. He first achieved success with his spooky 1979 novel, Ghost Story. This novel went on to be adapted into a 1981 film starring Fred Astaire and Alice Krige. After this many supernatural and spooky stories followed from the author including his most popular The Talisman, written in 1984. The book, about a boy’s travels into a parallel universe to save his nmoother, and it’s 2001 sequel Black House were both written alongside King.
