First Look at Cormoran Strike and Robin in the Strike Series

By November 15, 2016News, Television

J. K. Rowling is hot property right now, amid all the drama around the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find them spin-off we’ve also been following news of the upcoming ‘Strike Series’ the television adaptation of the Cormoran Strike series.

The series, comprising three novels to date follows the adventures of private detective Cormoran Strike and his trusty sidekick Robin. The books are written by Rowling, under the pseudonym Robert Galbraith and earlier this year it was confirmed that there was to be a mini series, starting with The Strike Series: The Cuckoo’s Calling, based on the first of the three books.

A few weeks ago, the actor to play Strike was confirmed as Tom Burke, and now with filming underway we have a first look at the characters! In the books Strike is described as 39 years old, but looking much older, dishevelled with the look of a grizzly bear and rather imposing at 6’3”. Robin is described as attractive, strawberry blonde, but feisty.

When Burke was first announced as Strike there were murmurs of dissent from the crowd, but now we get to see him in character, I think it’s a good fit. What do you think?

The Cuckoo’s Calling will be spread over three 60 minute episodes, which hopefully will be enough for them to include all the detail from the book, as us booklovers like it. Assuming it’ll be popular with viewers, both The Silkworm and Career of Evil are also on the cards for adaptation and as Rowling confirmed that there will be many books in the series, there should be plenty of Strike to come!

We don’t yet have a release date for the series, but we have our fingers on the pulse and the moment we know, we’ll tell you!
