The Mr. Men is a series of children’s books that have been amusing both parents and children for decades, and it’s not hard to see why. With characters such as Mr. Tickle, Mr. Grumble, and Little Miss Naughty, it’s clear why these books have endured for so long.
As you can imagine, given that the characters are named after traits and emotions, their names change depending on what language they’re being translated into. It has been noted that when it comes to Mr. Bump, the accident prone character’s name changes rather pleasingly when translated in Norwegian. In Norway, Mr. Bump is transformed into “Herr Dumpidump,” which we think is even cuter!
Other amusing translated names include Senhor Tonto, the Portuguese version of Mr. Tickle. Monsieur Grognon, the French version of Mr. Grump. Don Silencio, the Spanish Mr. Quiet, and, in Denmark, Mr. Greedy is known as HR. Madglad.
Thanks to both The Poke and Buzzfeed for bringing these to our attention.
