Comedian and poet Tim Key released a new book at Chortle Comedy Book Festival.
Tim Key is an award-winning comedian and former member of the Cambridge Footlights who has featured in Alex Horne’s Making Fish Laugh in 2003, and is part of the four-man sketch troupe Cowards. His poetry has also featured on Mark Watson Makes the World Substantially Better on BBC Radio 4, and Charlie Brooker’s Newswipe.
He Used Thought As A Wife was written in lockdown during the COVID-19, is described as an ‘anthology of poems and conversations from inside’ and is the first new book Tim has written in almost a decade.
According to Key, and stated in the book, he “started writing down his conversations. Zoom, phone, yelling down onto the street. He scribbled them down. Then it was a case of splicing them together a bit as it became apparent that it would probably be a book.”
Key’s previous releases include The Incomplete Tim Key: About 300 Of His Poetical Gems And What-Not (2011) and the out-of-print 25 Poems, 3 Recipes and 32 Other Suggestions. (An Inventory) and Instructions, Guidelines, Tuteledge, Suggestions, Other Suggestions, and Examples etc: An Attempted Book.
Key gave a preview of He Used Thought As a Wife during an online rendition of the Chortle Comedy Book Festival at 5pm on November 17th.
