In early 2017, the first season of Netflix’s adaptation of Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events books was released. The show saw Neil Patrick Harris star as the dastardly Count Olaf and both he and the show enjoyed a strong response from fans and critics. A second season was released earlier this year in March, and now the third and final season has been announced with a trailer.
There are thirteen books in the Unfortunate series, and each season has covered several of them. Season 1 adapted The Bad Beginning, The Reptile Room, The Wide Window, and The Miserable Mill, while season 2 adapted The Austere Academy, The Ersatz Elevator, The Vile Village, The Hostile Hospital, and The Carnivorous Carnival. The third and final season will adapt the finals books, which consists of The Slippery Slope, The Grim Grotto, The Penultimate Peril, and The End.
The misadventures of the Baudelaire children may almost be at an end, but it looks like there’s still plenty of excitement to be had before we say goodbye. The final season will be released on Netflix on January 1, 2019.
