Word of the Day – Lave

By February 20, 2017Word of the Day

Lave (verb)

lay-v

Wash or bathe: (of water) wash against or over (something).

A word that I had only ever seen used in the context of someone or something licking (usually a wound).

Example sentences

“She ran the cold water in the basin, laving her face and hands.”

“The sea below laved the shore with small, agitated waves.”
