Word of the Day – Cushty

By December 19, 2016Word of the Day

Cushty (adj)

kush-ti

Very good or pleasing.

I always thought this was one of Del Boy’s (Only Fools and Horses) made up words when in fact it comes from the 1920s: from Romany kushto, kushti good, perhaps influenced by cushy.

Example sentences

“I’ll get a cushty job, such as writing my own magazine column, or something.”

“Everything is cushty Rodney; just you watch, this time next year we’ll be millionaires.”
