(Rare) Scottish and English regional ( northern ). Protected from the wind, snug; (occasionally) neat, tidy.

From Old English, Queem is apparently the aphetic form of Iqueme. In later use also: calm, still; smooth . Also: To join or fit (a thing) closely; to fit exactly with.
