Literally “To repair with gold.”

Kintsukouri is the Japanese art of repairing broken potter with lacquer made of precious metals, gold is a favourite but silver and platinum are also used for this process. The technique respects the item and treats the breakage as part of the history, making it stronger and more valuable for having been broken.
