Word of the Day – Nesh

By April 21, 2016Word of the Day

Nesh (adj)

nesh

(Especially of a person) weak and delicate; feeble.

I always thought this word was of modern construct but it seems I was wrong. Old English hnesce, of Germanic origin; related to Dutch dialect nes ‘soft or foolish’.

Example sentences

“Come on, it’s just a bit of mud, you’re all so nesh.”

“Don’t be so nesh, it’s a spider not a tiger.”
