Word of the Day – Pusillanimous

By March 9, 2016Word of the Day

Pusillanimous (adj)

pu-sil-an-im-ous

Lacking courage or determination; overly timid.

I may be the only one who does so, but I think of this word every time I hear people called ‘pussy’ and lament of the loss of intellect. From Greek pusillus ‘very small’ + animus ‘mind’

Example sentences

“His pusillanimous actions cost the whole regiment dear.”

“Saying ‘until we meet again’ instead of ‘goodbye’ is a pusillanimous way of ending a friendship.”
