If you’re in the market for a new home, and you’re a fan of J. R. R Tolkien then we may have the perfect find for you!
The four bedroomed Castle Cottage in Pengenfford in the Brecon Beacons in South Wales is for sale, and it has a Hobbit House in its grounds! The cottage itself is a stunning four bedroom stone cottage, which was bought by Tin Wheeler from Bristol. In 2016 he built the Hobbit house in the garden, renting it out as a B&B.
It’s a unique addition to the property and certainly a big talking point, but now he’s looking to sell the house, and the Hobbit House for a total of £385,000. Anyone who is genuinely interested can contact estate agent Clee Tompkinson & Francis to arrange a viewing.
Tin said he built the Hobbit house on a whim. The cottage came with a lot of land and he wanted to create a garden, he realised that if he pushed the land back a little and put a roof on it, it would look like a Hobbit house. The project was supposed to last around three to four months but in the end took more than two years to complete. The couple never intended to use it as a B&B but soon realised the potential to earn a little extra money.
The Hobbit House has been fully booked almost every weekend for three years, so the new owners have some potential for a money making scheme for the property. While the couple aren’t thrilled to leave the area, they need to be closer to their daughter’s school. As well as the Hobbit House the property comes with a lot of land, and a wood fired hot tub, which can be used all year, and with the property on the edge of the Brecon Beacons National Park, there’s plenty to see and do too!
