George RR Martin Working on Game of Thrones Stage Show

By April 9, 2021Adaptations, News

With theatres taking a worst battering than seen even in the days of the Black Death, the news of any stage show is music to our ears, and a scene played out in front of us, but the news that Martin is working on a stage show of his most famous book may be an annoyance to some who were hoping he was going to finish Winds of Winter like he promised *and breathe!*

Today the news has reached us that George Martin is working on a Game of Thrones stage show, based on his most famous series, and that show will be coming to Broadway, the West End, and the Australian theatre circuit too.

The bestselling author is set to bring back well-known characters for the stage production, which will be based on his series of fantasy books and the hit HBO Show. The stageshow will revolved around the Great Tourney at Harrenhall, a contest that happened sixteen years previous to the events of the first book and episode, further rewriting the characters that Martin has failed to complete in the original format of the story.

If you are excited about the stageshow then it’s promised that “the play will for the first time take audiences deeper behind the scenes of a landmark event that previously was shrouded in mystery,” the official description reads. “Featuring many of the most iconic and well-known characters from the series, the production will boast a story centered around love, vengeance, madness and the dangers of dealing in prophecy, in the process revealing secrets and lies that have only been hinted at until now.”

Author Martin is working with well known producers Simon Painter and Tim Lawson, playwright Duncan MacMillan, and director Dominic Cooke. The as yet untitled show will launch in the UK, the US, and Australia in 2022.
